This is an activity that can be enjoyed with friends. This promotes teamwork creativity and collaboration as they share the colors and take turns with them while making their new fashionable designs.
Soon your little Picasso will learn to copy or trace shapes (use a paper cup or cookie cutters for him/her to trace around). He/she will also begin to use more than just his or her favorite color. You can draw a rainbow to show your child what different colors look like next to each other.
In no time your child will begin to use simple shapes to draw designs and patterns. Let them get creative with their designs. Tell them that it does not have to look any particular way.
Teach your child that these markers are not to be used on furniture. Only pre determined clothing can be drawn on. Enhance your childs self esteem by asking them to design a t shirt for you with these fabric markers.
You can also work on letter recognition with your child by writing them on clothes. Have your child repeat the names of the letters with you. Then see if he/she can copy the letters you have drawn. As he gains confidence you can say a letter aloud and ask him/her to draw it.
Reinforce this learning by drawing a picture that goes with the letter like D for dog or C for cat. Then have your child color in the picture by asking for a specific color and see if he/she gets it right.
Your child can collaborate with you or a friend to create their own line. Each child can use a different color or create consecutive lines. Now thats teamwork. Your little one is on their way to being a designer.
