Why our Child-Experts Love It
The Versa Pegs set receives our seal of approval because it is multifunctional and grows with your child.
The brightly-colored pegs can create interesting patterns on the mat or can be strung together with the different laces that are included. The Versa Pegs will help develop your child′s hand-eye coordination, his/her ability to recognize colors and his/her ability to copy patterns. Simple is better for these youngins, and this one happens to be the best. In our humble opinion.
Features and Skills
- Your child will begin by taking these easy-grip pegs out and putting them in the holes of the mat. This develops your child’s manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Next your child will think of new ways to visualize the pegs. For example, he/she will stack the pegs on top of one another.
- Sit on the floor with your child and group all the pegs by color. Encourage your little one to make designs or patterns using the different color pegs. He/She can also make designs using all the pegs of one color.
- You can interact with your little one by creating a pattern and having your child try to imitate it. Your toddler can also try to imitate a picture you draw for him/her.
- Count the pegs of each color with your child. This develops early pre-math skills.
- As your child grows you can also practice addition or subtraction using the peg mat by removing or adding pegs to the mat.
- To further develop dexterity, your little one can lace the pegs on the eight included strings. You may need to help guide his/her hand with the string through the holes in the pegs.
- You can lace the pegs in a certain order or pattern and have your child copy the pattern on his/her own string.
