Features and Skills
- Children begin by drawing scribbles, and then they move on to vertical lines and circles. By 3 years, your budding Picasso may be able to trace a horizontal line or draw other simple shapes such as a cross or a circle with these Elmers Paint products.
- Using your childs natural sense of observation, you can explain that more complex shapes like a person are just made up of simple shapes they know. A head is a circle, a dress is a triangle and legs are rectangles. Your child will have a great sense of accomplishment as he or she uses these simple shapes to draw Mom or Dad.
- Put some dots around the page and have your child play connect the dots to make a new picture.
- Another important social skill to learn is how to work together to complete a task. Practice some teamwork. Your child can take turns with you or his/her friends to create a picture together, each person choosing a color or making the next line.
- Read Mouse Paint and let the child experiment by mixing two colors together to make a new color.
