Features and Skills
- With the Creative peg puzzle your child will learn to sort the pieces by color and shape. First, take all the shapes off the board. Put them in a pile on the floor and begin by sorting them into groups by color.
- Then sit with your little one and put the shapes on the pegs. At first your child may not put the shapes in the right spot. You can explain to him/her that you need to match the pieces to the colors on the pegs.
- As your child places the shapes on the correct color peg tell him/her the name of the shape he/she is holding.
- Next,show your child the picture of the shape at the base of the peg. Have him/her match the shapes he/she is holding to the shape on the board. Say the color your child is working with aloud for reinforcement.
- You can also help your little one learn to follow directions by guiding him/her while he/she plays. Tell him/her to put the purple circle on the purple peg.
- Once all the pegs are in place on the pegs, practice counting the shapes with your child. Point out to him/her that there are corresponding numbers at the base of each peg. For example, there is one green rectangle in the peg with the number one. This educational toy will begin to develop your childs pre-math skills.
