    Jumbo Sorter
    This was the perfect gift for my 1-year old grandson. He loves it. Color coordinating the shape to the outline of the hole it goes in helps him learn which is the correct hole. He also loves the spinning body. Good choice.

  • The Jumbo Shape Sorter will teach color, shapes and cause & effect to your child. First start with just playing with the shapes that come with the elephant. Have your child hand you the yellow square etc. This is just reinforcing their colors and shapes.
  • Next, talk to your child about when they place all the shapes in the correct spots and then turn the elephants tail what happens. This process will reinforce cause & effect in your child.  Help them the first time and then let them put the shapes in all by themselves.
  • Also take this opportunity to talk to him/her about elephants. Where do they live? What do they eat? This is a great toy to learn about elephants.
  • Utilize the elephant as a game when your child gets older. Have some friends come over and you can makes cards for each shape. When it's there turn they can pick up a card and then match the card to the shape and then they have to place the shape in the correct spot on the elephant.  This is a great way to make an educational game from this toy.
