The mini tent habitat is pre-assembled for pop-open, pop-up ease. Please allow approximately 3 weeks for your larvae to develop. During extremely hot or cold weather, delivery of live larvae may be delayed. Available only in the Continental U.S. and Alaska. Note! • This educational toddler toy is a great way to interest your child in the world of science and nature. The Mini Butterfly Bungalow comes with a certificate to send away for live caterpillars and food.
• Together choose a place for your caterpillars to live.  Put the caterpillars and the food in the garden or bungalow and wait for them to turn into butterflies.  Explain to your preschooler that a caterpillar eats and eats and gets lots of energy then it makes a cocoon and when it comes out, it is a butterfly.
• When it turns into a butterfly have your child remember the process and explain to you what happened to the caterpillar. At first your child may find it alarming that the caterpillar is no longer there. Remind him/her that it really is still there, just as a butterfly instead.
• You can have a bonding moment with your child as you go outside and release the butterflies into nature again. He/she may be sad to see his/her pet go, but you can use this opportunity to teach your child to respect nature. The butterfly would probably be happier flying around in the garden than being cooped up in the container, right?
