Why our Child-Experts Love It
No digital clock here, this is old-school all the way.
And besides, we tested so many boring shape-sorters that we were desperate to find a more advanced sorter that went beyond just shapes; and this one is the best!
It is no ordinary shape sorter! It will really grow with your child; first it will teach colors and shapes, then numbers and ultimately how to tell time.
Simple, fun, effective and grows with a child over time - that is why we love it.
Features and Skills
- This is a colorful puzzle with blocks of various shapes that your child will try to match with the openings on the shape sorting clock. The shapes are more challenging than some other shape puzzles. You can name these shapes for your little one and count the number of sides they have-- pentagon has five sides, hexagon has six sides, octagon has eight sides.
- Your child will also notice the numbers on the blocks. You can review these numbers with them and their position on the clock. Your child will begin to learn number recognition and be able to match the numbers back in the puzzle by number.
- Start to teach your toddler about time by drawing a picture that looks the same as the child’s clock. Have him/her move the hands on the clock puzzle to copy the time you draw. Your fist example should be on the hour (1 o’clock).
- Take digital pictures of the clock puzzle set to different times and make a ‘Time Book’ by writing the times under pictures. It will help your child recognize the passage of time throughout the day if your connect what he/she is learning with the activities that go on in his/her day. Add pictures or words of these activities to the “Time Book,” such as “6:00pm dinner, bath.”)
