    haven't been in the market for wooden blocks for a while. These are fantastic. but i think they cost a little much. but i guess they're worth it b/c my grandkids will play with for years.

  • Dump these UNIT BLOCKS out onto the floor and let your child explore the different shapes. Your child will notice that some of the blocks are smooth and round, while others have corners; a multifaceted learning toy.

  • Sit on the floor with your child and sort the toy blocks out by shape. You can practice naming the shapes aloud. "Let's put all the triangles blocks together."

  • Demonstrate how to stack the blocks one on top of the other with a steady base for balance.

  • Create a sense of bonding by getting down on the floor with your child and building a tower. Your child will giggle and giggle if you let him/her knock your tower over. Demolition is almost more fun than construction!

  • Soon your child's creativity will blossom as he/she builds towers on his/her own, in all sorts of new ways. Encourage him/her to build with a friend and practice sharing social skills.

  • Help your child label the different types of building he/she builds. Ask him/her to tell you what he/she built. A castle? A tower? A firehouse? Use other educational toys you already have to elaborate on the scene and expand your child's imagination. For example, invite a teddy bear to drive through the town you've just built in his car.
