We love this children′s book because it is a cute and simple story for your little one to enjoy.
These beginner books, blend words and pictures that encourage children to read all by themselves!
A little information that you may not have known about PD Eastman: Eastman worked at the story department of Walt Disney Productions, and Warner Bros. Cartoons, among other places. He was protégé of Theodor Geisel (Dr. Seuss), and wrote many books for children, in his own distinct style under the Dr. Seuss brand of Random House, many of which were in the Beginner Books series. A few of his titles include: Are You My Mother?, Go, Dog. Go!, The Best Nest, Flap Your Wings, What Time Is It? and Big Dog...Little Dog: A Bedtime Story.
Features and Skills
- A great way to spend quality time with your child is reading to them and this should begin when they are infants.
- Exposing children to books at this young age is the first step to peaking their future interest in reading.
- Rhyming, recognizing first sounds in words, and syllable awareness are all phonemic awareness skills your child has before they are ready to start reading.
- We don¹t often think of reading when it comes to our toddlers, but they start hearing about the ABCs in songs and begin gaining letter recognition starting at around 2 years of age.
- Most children will begin to read between the ages of 5-6 years. But before they can read they need to gain the foundation of pre-reading skills.

Product Reviews
-
Laurie, Grandparent (Sylvania, OH)Are you my mother? Our 22-month old granddaughter loved this book. It actually upset her a little at first when the bird couldn't find his mama. Our daughter and son-in-law recently went on a week-long vacation without her and she had a hard time understanding their absence. This book does a nice job addressing separation anxiety!
