Why Our Experts Love It

We love fun and easy ways for your child to learn how to spell basic words and form basic sentences.

We actually like to make this into a game...leave the first letter blank (_at) and have the child find the 'c' for 'cat' or 'b' for 'bat.

Additionally, the magnets and compact board make this toy ideal for taking with you while traveling.

I'd like to buy a vowel, Pat.
  • At first, have your child practice by copying the words that appear at the top of the magnetic board. He/she needs to find the correct letters and put them together to spell "mom" or "cat."
  • Quickly your little one will want to move on to spell his/her own name and that of family members, friends and classmates. Help him/her by calling out the letters and have him/her find them and put them together.
  • Practice the association between letters and the sounds they make, by having your child say the sound of each letter as he/she places them on the board.
  • Have your child try to spell words without help by sounding them out. Take the time to sit with him/her and work on hearing the letters in a word as you say it. As they grow, you can play a Scrabble-type word game by giving him/her a group of letters and seeing what words he/she can spell from them.
  • Fun with Letters is an educational toy and a great stepping stone to school, because it is more like real paper than a puzzle. After your preschooler has mastered spelling a few words, you can challenge him/her by putting them together to form short, three-word sentences.
