Dump these blocks out onto the floor and let your child explore the different shapes and colors. Show your toddler the different pictures on the Blocks.
Demonstrate for your child how the blocks stack on top of each other. This teaches object permanence (the object exists even if it cannot be seen.) It also begins to show size relationships; the larger block holds the next size down.
Demonstrate how to stack the blocks one on top of the other with a steady base for balance. Begin by sitting and stacking two or three blocks, then as you add blocks your child will learn to stand up to reach the top.
Create a sense of bonding by getting down on the floor with your child and building a tower. Your child will giggle and giggle if you let them to knock your tower over. Demolition is almost more fun than construction
